Hello, I’m

Dr Rachel Irwin.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

If life is a bit of a struggle at the moment, please come and see me. I can help.

I’m based in Karori, Wellington and have been helping make life easier for New Zealanders since the early 2000s.

I’m a clinical psychologist, which means I have obtained extensive academic and professional qualifications, and peer-reviewed experience to diagnose and treat clients with mental, emotional, and behavioural disorders. I also have a doctorate and post-doctoral training in neuropsychology – a specialist field of psychology that investigates the relationship between the brain and behaviour.

I have a personal – yet professional – approach to private practice. As well as being a clinical psychologist, I am also a mother of three amazing children, a wife, a dog-owner, and an active member of the community. I know the pressures life can throw at you, and am well known for my amiable and approachable manner in helping clients navigate their way through life’s challenges.

Occasionally my family’s cavoodle, Patches, will also come and help me out at work (he is always keen for an invite to a session). Patches is really a canine version of a cuddly teddy bear, and he’s perfect for treating clients with dog phobias or who just need a cuddle.

I am passionate about working with families and children to foster happiness, acceptance, and fun.

In addition to private practice I supervise several clinical psychologists around New Zealand, and am regularly asked to consult on neuropsychology matters.

My ethical responsibilities.
